South School News: Unity Middle School valedictorian is Lauren Houle

Damaris Marietti Esquilin was awarded a Skill Point Certificate in Nurse Assisting at the at the recent SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Mo. The team of Brianda Gonzalez and Anayeli Gonzalez was awarded a Skills Point Certificate in Nail Care.
UNITY SCHOOL
Lauren Houle finished with the highest grade point average to be named valedictorian of the middle school graduating class. Katie Brenner and Matthew Truong received straight A’s throughout the year and served as co-salutatorians.
Members of the Builder’s Club, a community service group on campus that partners with the Kiwanis Club of Delray Beach, amassed 570 hours of community service this year. Seven students complete more than 100 hours of service: Nick Los, 112 hours; Madison Dean 362 hours; Morgan Measey, 248 hours; Nicole Sellar, 131 hours; Amanda Yaffa, 123 hours; Tanner Pike, 115.5 hours; and Josh Smith, 114 hours. Teacher Barbara Ferguson and Lessons in Living teachers Terri Stec and Beckie Lloyd-Jones oversaw the project.
Parents donated 220 books to the school library this spring, bringing the total to more than 3,500 books donated by families in recent years.
